Sheldon Pollack, MD, FRCP(C), FACP
  Sheldon Pollack, MD, FRCP(C), FACP received his M.D. degree at the University of Toronto in his native Canada. He subsequently served a medical internship and dermatology residency at the same institution. After completion of training in dermatology, Dr. Pollack spent a year at New York University Medical Center where he pursued a Fellowship in Dermatologic Surgery. Following that, in 1979, he joined the Faculty at Duke University School of Medicine where he attained the academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology. While at Duke, he founded and directed the Mohs Surgery -Dermatologic Surgery Unit in which, over the next decade, he treated approximately 25,000 skin cancers. He was also involved in research and teaching relating to Cosmetic Dermatology.

During his time at Duke, Dr. Pollack served on the Boards of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, The International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, The American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, and The Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons. He also served as Vice-President for both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He was a Fellow of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Care Center and served as a technical consultant for the North Carolina Cancer Information Service.

In 1990, Dr. Pollack and his family returned to Canada where he was appointed Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Dermatologic Surgery Training in the Division of Dermatology at the University of Toronto. Shortly after his return to Canada, he worked to establish the Canadian Society for Dermatologic Surgery, (an educational professional society), and become that organization's founding president (1992-1996).

Dr. Pollack is a popular guest speaker at medical conferences both at home and abroad. He also is an avid contributor to the medical literature, having published over 75 medical articles, a handbook ("Electrosurgery of the Skin") and a popular textbook ("Illustrated Atlas of Cutaneous Surgery"). He is currently a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the Skin Cancer Foundation (New York, NY) and an editor for the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Pollack was the Congress President for the XVth International Congress of Dermatologic Surgery which was held in Toronto in September 1994 and completed two terms as President of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (1994-1996).

Dr. Pollack is affiliated with Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre where he teaches within the Division of Dermatology. He is Medical Director of the Toronto Cosmetic Skin Surgery Centre where he performs and teaches a variety of procedures including laser surgery, liposuction, hair transplantation, chemical peeling and injections for treatment of facial lines and wrinkles. He is director of a one year fellowship program which prepares young dermatologists to provide these and other skills in an academic setting.
